Green Tea Should Be Part of Every Healthy Diet

Only recently have people in the United States started to drink green tea on a regular basis. Interestingly, however, green tea has long been one of the most popular drinks on the planet. In fact, some might even argue that it is second only to water in popularity. Lately, the spread of green tea has been due to something other than its flavor: it also has well known health benefits, trumped as a mild form of natural medicine. More than anything else, the ginseng and the antioxidants often in green tea are the largest contributors to these health benefits.


In addition to its cancer fighting properties, this beverage is also thought to improve cardiovascular health, lower LDL cholesterol levels and even help to prevent bad breath. Last but not least, this tea is also considered to be effective for weight loss. It is considered by some experts to be a superior weight loss supplement because of its ability to boost the metabolism without the dangerous side effects that usually accompany other weight loss drugs. As virtually everyone knows by know (whether or not they have used them), weight loss supplements cannot actually work miracles. In fact, they usually contain caffeine and a few other mild stimulants; and that is the extent of their weight reducing power.


Of course, everything that is beneficial to your health can be traced all the way back to the abnormally high level of antioxidants found in green tea. Because the green form of tea is the least processed of other popular types of tea, it also has a higher concentration of antioxidants than most of the other varieties. The reduced processing means that this tea is unfermented which is an exception compared with other tea types. By now, all of us attempt to find food that has been processed as little as is possible. And it makes sense that less processing results in a healthier and more natural product. Green tea is an exceptional nutritional beverage in regard to its health benefits and should be a part of every healthy diet.
