You have heard of the explosive and far reaching health benefits of consuming green tea on a regular basis, but you are familiar with green tea extract and the health benefits it can offer? If not, take this into consideration: the major benefits that green tea provides to drinkers include an unbelievable amount of cancer preventative antioxidants, the promise of cardiovascular health improvement, potential relief from arthritis and joint pain, and effective weight loss stimulation. In fact, for these exact reasons, many dieticians suggest that those who already drink green tea should drink more; and those who do not drink it should drink a few cups each day. However, there is an alternative: green tea extract, which usually comes in capsule form (and even in chewing gum form now, too), can be consumed as an alternative to drinking the tea. The benefits, experts suggest, are just as good or even better.

I don't know about you, but taking two capsules of a green tea supplement sounds a lot easier than drinking twenty cups of tea. In fact, drinking that many cups of anything is nearly impossible for most people. The majority of us would be doing well to drink a cup or two a day. Many studies on the effectiveness of green tea supplements revolve around the weight loss benefit that so many people are looking for. Tests were performed to see how effective green tea actually is in helping people to lose weight. Subjects were given green tea supplements plus caffeine or a placebo with caffeine and then tested for fat loss. The green tea group had a greater amount of fat loss than the placebo group.

Green tea is so helpful for weight loss because it encourages the body to burn fat. This fat burning process is increased by a higher metabolism. The green tea supplements appear to have a thermogenic effect in the body but with no related increase in heart rate or blood pressure. This is a tremendous benefit over traditional fat loss supplements which usually raise these numbers and cannot be used by many people because of the side effects. Currently, there seems to be no evidence to support negative effects associated with drinking green tea or consuming its extract on a regular basis. In addition to all of the great health benefits it will provide, this is yet another good reason to head down to your local GNC and pick up some green tea extract to complement your diet.
